The Railway Recruitment Board has released awaited notification for Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician posts. RRB will make recruitment on 26502 ALP/Technician posts. There are 17673 ALP and 8829 Technician posts. Fist stage computer based test (CBT) is tentatively scheduled during April & May 2018.

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) selection process
Exam shall be two stages First stage CBT and 2nd stage common for ALP and Technician. In addition , applicants who have opted for ALP and qualified in 2nd stage CBT have to undergo computer based aptitude test. Marks wil be normalized in all the stages of examination. Some steps given below

- Computer Based Aptitude Test (only for applicants who have opted for Assistant Loco Pilot)
- Document verification and impaneling of applicants.

Selection of Railway Board preferences for Posts
RRBs will declare updated vacancy table on websites including the Railway Recruitment Board wise vacancies against many Railway/Production units and posts after the completion of Ist Stage CBT. Applicants who secure marks, equal to or above the minimum qualifying marks prescribed for many communities/categories in Ist stage CBT shall be advised to exercise their option for Railway Recruitment Board and preference of Railway and posts within the chosen RRB. It may be noted that applicants can choose only one RRB indicate preference of Railway.
After applicants submit their option for specific Railway Recruitment Board/Railway and posts, Railway Recruitment Board wise shortlisting of applicants for 2nd stage CBT shall be done at the rate of 15 times. The short listing for 2nd stage CBT will be based on the merit of applicants in Ist stage CBT. Railway Recruitment Board wise short listed applicants for 2nd stage CBT shall advised through websites of RRBs as well as personal communication to the registered mobile no. and email to download e call letter for appearing in the 2nd stage CBT.
NEGATIVE MARKING:
Negative marking for incorrect answers in Ist and 2nd stage CBT. 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for every wrong answer. There shall be no negative marking for Computer Based Aptitude Test.
Railway Board ALP Technician First Stage CBT Exam Pattern and Syllabus:
There will be Computer Based written exam in Ist stage CBT. The questions will be objective type with multiple choices.
First Stage CBT is of screening nature. The score of first stage exam shall be used only for short listing of applicants for 2nd stage exam as per their merit.
In this examination there will be 75 questions in Ist Stage Exam
Time duration wil be 1 hour ( 60 minutes)
Questions will be asked from Reasoning, Mathematics, General Science and General Awareness.
Note: Minimum %age of marks for eligibility in various categories
Unreserved : 40 %
SC Category: 30%
ST category: 25% .
These %age of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD applicants in case of shortage of PWD applicants against vacancies reserved for them. Syllabus for Railway Recruitment Board ALP/Technician Ist Stage exam is follows.
MATHEMATICS:
Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and distance, Simple and compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, elementary statistics, Square Root, Age calculations, Calendar and clock, pipes and cistern etc.
GENERAL INTELLIGENCE & REASONING:
Analogies, Alphabetical and number series, coding and decoding, mathematical operations, relationships, syllogism, jumbling, venn diagram, data interpretation and sufficiency, conclusions and decision making, similarities and differences, analytical reasoning, classification, directions, statement arrangements and assumptions etc.
GENERAL SCIENCE:
Exam syllabus under this shall cover physics, chemistry and life sciences of 10th standard level
General awareness on current affairs in science and technology, sports, culture, personalities, economics, politics and other subjects of importance.
RRB Technician ALP second stage CBT Exam Pattern and Syllabus
Shorting listing of applicants for the 2nd stage CBT exam shall be based on normalized marks obtained by them in Ist stage CBT exam.
Total number of applicants to be shortlisted for 2nd stage shall be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of Technician and ALP posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in Ist Stage CBT.
Second stage exam has 2 parts which is Part A and Part B. Time duration for 2nd stage CBT exam is 2 hours 30 minutes. Part A consists of total 100 questions and time limit is 90 minutes
The marks scored in Part A along shall be used for short listing of applicants for further stages of recruitment procedure subject to the condition that the applicant is securing qualifying mark in Part B.
Part B consists of total 75 questions and time limit is 60 minutes
Qualifying marks for Part B exam is 35%.
Note: Minimum %age of marks for eligibility in various categories Unreserved 40% OBC 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%. These %age of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD applicants in case of shortage of PWD applicants against vacancies reserved for them.

BASIC SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING:
The topics that are covered under this shall be engineering drawing (Projections, views, drawing instruments, lines, geometric figures, symbolic representation), units. measurements, mass weight and density, work power and energy, speed and velocity, heat and temperature, basic electricity, levers and simple machines, occupational safety and health, environment education, IT literacy etc.
Part B Syllaus
Part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment and Training. Applicants with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to apper in the section having questions from the relevant trade. Applicants holding degree, diploma and 10+2 having eligibility for the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot have to select relevant trade form the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline 10+2. Trade syllabus can be obtained from the DGET website. Relevant trades for many engineering discipline /10+2 for appearing in the qualifying test.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (only applicants who have opted for Assistant Loco Pilot)
Qualifying Marks:
The applicant needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in every of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all applicants and no relaxation is permissible.
The applicants equal to 8 times number of ALP vacancies for each of the communities which is UR, OBC, NCL, SC & ST (inducing EXSM) shall be short listed for Computer Based at Part A of 2nd stage CBT subject to their qualifying the part B of 2nd stage CBT from the among the applicants who have opted for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot.
